Abstract:
»The article deals with the theme of femicide in the novel 2666 written by Robertо Bolaño. The research objective is to find out how Bolaño deals with violence against women in Mexico. Taking into account that the theme of the book is based on real events, the violence in the novel is related to the social and political situation of the period 1992‒2003. It follows that these systems affect the role and position of women in society. Thus, dehumanized descriptions of crimes represent the dehumanized position of women in society. Bolaño's descriptions of the crimes are not clues that lead us to a point, that is, to the culprit of the crime. Instead, research leads to a broader ideology that, in essence, allows these patterns of violence to be constantly repeated. Likewise, the investigation showed that the murders described represent not only the violence in Mexico but also speak symbolically of the broader context that crosses the borders of Latin America and becomes a topic of collective importance.«
